Annual Report: Regional Data Center

The Regional Data Center is an established expert with GIS technology that assists with data collection, technical support, mapping, and information services to promote a positive regional future. Even though AACOG serves a broader role than is often expected of a council of governments, its central mission remains providing professional planning expertise to regional governments.

The Regional Data Center also works with AACOG’s programs and member governments in a decision support role, providing background data and mapping. Collaborating with the San Antonio-Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization, the Regional Data Center forecasted future population and employment totals into small geographic areas in Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Kendall, and Wilson Counties. This work, begun last year, will finish in 2014. In 2013, an agreement was reached to provide the City of Cibolo a web based mapping service, and a prototype has been completed.
