Clean It Up. Turn It Off. Keep It Green.
Dedicated to helping our region clean up its diesel school buses, turn off idling engines, and keep our region green by reducing air pollution.

Cleaning it up: while bus travel is still better for our environment than individual vehicle travel, the average school bus is far from emissions-free. The alternatives are here, however. Adopt-A-School Bus is a program designed to help school districts clean up their older diesel buses through the help of local corporate sponsors.

Turning it of: With Adopt-A-School Bus will come a No Idle campaign for both parent and school bus drives, as well as any other citizen who wants to pledge. Idling vehicles waste gas and money and pollute the air we breathe.

Adopt-A-School Bus unites parents, students, schools, and corporate entities in protecting our community's health by reducing air pollution. Drivers can get involved by taking the No Idle Pledge, which encourages drivers to avoid idling, except in traffic. Students can learn about the Green Patrol program, a program to help students get involved with the No Idling program, and help get the program started at their school. Green Patrol Chiefs love getting to come out to schools to talk about the Green Patrol and No Idle programs. Schools are encouraged to submit the school visit request form.

Sponsors are corporate entities taking a leadership role in helping the well-being and future of our community. Sponsors contribute to the Adopt-A-School Bus program and help replace older buses with newer, cleaner buses.

Parents can help be great examples for their kids and all the kids in the community by agreeing to Turn It Off. Not idling while waiting in line to pick up children from school will help reduce the amount of pollution the children breathe.

Bus travel is one of the most efficient ways to get kids to and from school—we simply want to help make it a little better. Our goal with schools is to take away old, diesel school buses and bring in new, cleaner buses. We also encourage not idling on the school driveway during pick up and drop off time.

Kids really do make differences when it comes to helping the environment.
