Don't Lose Your Home to Foreclosure!

AACOG is participating of the City of San Antonio's Foreclosure Task Force that includes representatives from major financial institutions, banks, the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Texas Dept. of Housing & Community Affairs (TDHCA), NeighborWorks, the Federal Reserve Bank, area Fair Housing counselors, and other agencies in the state.  The purpose for the task force is to identify and to work with people facing foreclosure in an effort to help them from losing their homes.  Mortgage assistance and other options are discussed and considered. 

 

The task force held a press conference recently announcing the scheduling of its first Foreclosure Prevention Workshop in the Bexar County area.  The first workshop was held Saturday, March 29 at Northwest Vista College for homeowners residing in zip codes 78250 and 78251, and whose properties were listed on the Bexar County foreclosure listing.  The next Saturday workshop (date and time to be announced) is most likely to be hosted by AACOG, and will target the northeast quadrant of Bexar County to include homeowners in the Schertz-Cibolo area.

 

AACOG is also working with the U.S. Dept. of Housing & Urban Development (HUD) and Neighbor Works in the planning and scheduling of two or three Foreclosure Forums or Seminars for homeowners in Boerne, New Braunfels and Kerrville.

 

If you are behind in your home payments you don't necessarily have to lose your home.  For assistance, call 210-207-5910 and talk with a HUD certified (City of San Antonio) housing counselor.  They can offer you free advice and in some instances assistance with your mortgage.  They can also identify ways for you to work with your mortgage company so that you can keep your home.  If you are afraid of talking with your mortgage company, the counselor can call your mortgage company on your behalf and work out an arrangement.
