The Academy Wants to Bring Training to Your Agency

Although we are located off of NE 410 & Nacogdoches in San Antonio, the Alamo Area Regional Law Enforcement Academy serves a twelve county region and wants to bring in-service training directly to surrounding agencies.

Contact Sgt. Richard D. Bryan at 210-362-5258 or e-mail at rbryan@aacog.com to see what it would take to bring in-service training to your agency.

Basic Peace Officer Academy Keeps Focus on Quality

Although it is considered bad luck to say so, we are going to say it anyway…The AACOG Regional Law Enforcement Academy has been maintaining a 100% first time pass rate with its cadets on the TCLEOSE Peace Officer State Exam for the past year.  Even before the 100% rating, AACOG was maintaining a 92%-95% first time pass rate with the state.

Information on Upcoming Peace Officer Academy

A special thanks to all our dedicated instructors and dedicated cadets who continue to make the academy an astounding success!

Most of you know Ms. Doris Haby who has been our Administrative Assistant and the “heartbeat” of the Academy for a number of years.  As the Academy continues to grow, Doris has done an incredible job of taking on an ever-increasing workload.   Brandi has joined us to team up with Doris to help administrative operations run even smoother.  So the next time you find yourself at the Academy, be sure to drop by and welcome Brandi aboard.

AACOG Law Enforcement Job Fair in October

Picture of Participants at Job FairThe Academy will be hosting a peace officer job fair at our offices at 8700 Tesoro Drive, in San Antonio on October 11, 2007 (9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.).  The job fair applicant pool will include cadets from class 2006 C, Class 2007 A, and recent graduates from our Texas Supplemental Peace Officer Course.  Also, any current peace officers looking for “greener pastures” are encouraged to attend.

Any agency recruiters looking for eligible applicants can contact Academy Supervisor Ron Ray at 210-362-5272 or e-mail at rray@aacog.com to reserve their spot.  There is no charge for agencies or attendees.  This is a free community service provided by AACOG.

AACOG Offers Active Shooter Refresher Training

“Tactics are perishable skills – You must train to sustain those skills.”- Anonymous

Understanding the importance not only to train, but to help sustain the skills learned, the Academy will be offering Active Shooter Refresher Training at least once a semester to those peace officers who have previously attended Active Shooter training with AACOG or the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) Program.  Those officers with at least TCLEOSE approved Basic SWAT training are also eligible to attend.

Because of the importance of safety in our school and work environments, this course will be offered by the Academy free of charge to peace officers as a service to the community.   Space is limited to fifteen students per class.  Anyone who wishes to attend training can find the Active Shooter Refresher Training Course by clicking here.

Need Some Free Training?

From time to time, the academy is able to offer free training to peace officers for courses that are funded through other grants.  Click here to see a list of the most recent courses offered.
