According to the University of Texas at San Antonio’s 2012 economic update study, South Texas has produced 10 years of economic output within one year…what was estimated to take 10 years was completed in one year. The Eagle Ford is proving to be the game changer everyone from our local papers to the Wall Street Journal proposed it could be. We are still in the early stages of development and will continue to face obstacles. The Eagle Ford Consortium is the region's platform to share ideas and discuss our challenges.

Below is information on the Eagle Ford Consortium’s 2nd Annual Conference - Shaping a Sustainable Pathway. Following a highly memorable inaugural conference, our 2013 conference promises to be an even greater success.

On March 7-8, 2013, the Consortium will host its 2nd Annual Conference at the Grand Hyatt in San Antonio, Texas. We expect more than 800 attendees comprised of key community, industry, education, business and workforce development leaders. One of the reasons this conference is so successful is because it is planned and coordinated by the public and private stakeholders located in the twenty-county Eagle Ford shale region.

The theme of ‘Shaping a Sustainable Pathway’ is driven by the fact that the region fully understands the benefits and challenges it faces. We are now at a stage where we will formulate actions and move steadily towards solutions and sustainability.

The conference will offer valuable and timely information and interactions regarding a myriad of topics: job creation, workforce education and training, industry and shale developments, housing, natural resources, economic and community development, infra-structure needs, best practices and other related subjects.

VIA Metropolitan Transit
VIA Primo
On December 17, VIA launched their new Primo buses, which are powered by CNG.

VIA Primo is part of VIA's new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line, which is scheduled to run along Fredericksburg Road traveling from the University of Texas at San Antonio 1604 campus to the Medical Center Transit Center and on to downtown San Antonio. The Primo buses will run solely on CNG. According to the VIA Primo website, running on CNG "will save on fuel costs and contribute to a cleaner environment by reducing emissions."
