The 2008 Alamo Area Clean Cities Advancing the Choice event was held on August 12, 2008, from 7:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the City of San Antonio Northeast Service Center “Tool Yard”. The City of San Antonio, the Clean Vehicle Education Foundation, the Natural Gas Vehicle Association and the Alamo Area Clean Cities Coalition are co-hosting this year’s event, A Compelling Case for Natural Gas Vehicles.

Stephe Yborra, who is a recognized expert in Natural Gas Vehicle (NGV) markets and technologies, moderated A Compelling Case for Natural Gas Vehicles.  The event  provided attendees with the following presentations:

Record-high gas and diesel prices are compelling businesses and organizations to explore how to rein in fuel costs.  Besides saving green, many companies are also interested in driving green.  Natural gas vehicles (NGVs) fill the bill on both counts.  Utilizing NGVs promotes energy security by reducing our nation’s dependence on foreign oil.  Natural gas is domestically abundant and is becoming commercially available at a growing number of refueling stations in the San Antonio region.

A Compelling Case for Natural Gas Vehicles was a daylong, interactive event that provideded a comprehensive overview on the economic, environmental and energy security rationale for using NGVs.  Available vehicles, funding opportunities, success stories and fuel station development will also be addressed. The event included all meals, written materials and a tour of the City of San Antonio’s new Compressed Natural Gas refueling station.
