The Edwards Aquifer Conservancy, in partnership with the Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA), is hosting its inaugural Agricultural Chemical Collection event. Farmers, ranchers, and landowners can dispose of their old, outdated, unused agricultural chemicals during this one-day event that is free of charge and completely confidential. Programs like these allow us to reduce the risk of contamination to the aquifer by eliminating the amount of unused, improperly stored agricultural chemicals that can potentially seep into our groundwater supply through conduits such as surface level cracks, crevices, and sinkholes and/or abandoned or poorly maintained groundwater wells. Such an event also provides a vehicle for members of the region, reliant upon the Edwards Aquifer for their way of life, to come together and actively participate in the protection of the aquifer at no cost to them.
