The Alamo Area Council of Governments announces the Counties of Atascosa, Bandera, Frio, Gillespie, Karnes, Kendall and Wilson Counties have installed the Mapped ALI (Automatic Location Identification) system in all seven county locations. When a 911 call comes into a 911-call center, the Mapped ALI system displays the location of the call on a map at the call taker’s monitor.
Call takers can therefore visualize an incident in progress and more readily and easily coordinate a response. Plant Equipment’s Orion MapStar software is being used for AACOG’s Mapped ALI system. AACOG GIS Technician has been working with each of the counties and with Plant Equipment to prepare the GIS data sets that are used by MapStar to locate incoming calls on the map.
The map data used by the software is housed at AACOG. AACOG GIS Technician continues to integrate map data updates from local jurisdictions. AACOG staff will install these maps at each of the localities to provide regular and timely updates of map data for each of the call centers in the seven counties.
AACOG continues to work with the local jurisdictions to integrate and implement the latest technology within the AACOG Region. Fran Randall, 911 Manager, conducts routine monitoring visits at each county 911 call center and ensures that database quality and control measures are implemented to maintain the integrity of the 911 system.
