Clean Texas, Cleaner World

A Voluntary Environmental Leadership Program

The Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) is proud to be an advocate member in the Clean Texas, Cleaner World program and promotes program goals through its various outreach programs.

What is Clean Texas, Cleaner World?

Clean Texas, Cleaner World is a voluntary program that promotes the conservation of Texas’ natural resources through statewide partnerships.  Developed by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), the Clean Texas, Cleaner World program encourages members to protect the air, water, and land by:

  • Focusing on issues concerning their community.

  • Taking a creative approach to solving local problems.

  • Utilizing partnerships with others in the community to achieve goals.

  • Encouraging efficient use of natural resources.

By practicing these initiatives, Clean Texas, Cleaner World strives to produce real environmental improvements, including air emission reductions, water quality improvements, pollution prevention, and environmental compliance improvement.

Additional information and details on the Clean Texas, Cleaner World program can be found at www.cleantexas.org.

How AACOG Fulfills its Clean Texas, Cleaner World Role

AACOG participates in several outreach activities aimed to educate the public about air quality within our region, such as LiveGreenFest and Walk & Roll San Antonio These events tackle the subject of air pollution prevention by promoting vehicle maintenance, alternative modes of transportation, alternative work schedules, and energy efficiency.

How AACOG Can Help You Become a Clean Texas, Cleaner World Member

As an advocate member, AACOG offers various services to the San Antonio area that assist interested parties in joining the Clean Texas, Cleaner World program.  AACOG can visit your facility and provide educational materials explaining various programs that are environmentally beneficial, such as Commute Solutions, and can be implemented in your organization.

AACOG can also provide assistance with the application process for organizations interested in joining the Clean Texas, Cleaner World program.  Organizations can participate by three different methods - Advocate, Partner, and Certified Leader memberships.

  • Advocate membership is for organizations that support Clean Texas, Cleaner World through their activities as well as promote environmental outreach activities within their own communities.

  • Partner membership is for any size entity that operates from a facility or has territorial limits.  Partners have measurable environmental improvement goals and facilitate company-level and community-level environmental outreach activities.

  • Certified Leadership membership is for any size entity that operates from a facility and implements a performance based environmental management system.  Leaders also participate in community outreach and include stakeholder involvement.

Membership in the Clean Texas, Cleaner World program is for three years and members submit an annual report detailing their progress and activities.  In return, the program provides valuable benefits, such as:

  • Information exchange through Regional Partnership Forums and annual Clean Texas Partnership Conferences.

  • Program assistance from the TCEQ as well as training opportunities.

  • Recognition in Clean Texas, Cleaner World publications, website, and events, use of the Clean Texas, Cleaner World logo, and assistance with the Clean Texas Champion program.  (http://www.cleantexas.org/champions.html)
