Honorary 2006 ACAP Partners:

The following organizations were awarded honorary membership in the ACAP program for their participation in the Walk & Roll Corporate Challenge during June 2006.

  • CPS Energy
  • Harlandale Independent School District
  • San Antonio-Bexar County Metropolitan Planning Organization
  • San Antonio College
  • San Antonio Express-News
  • Texas Department of Transportation, San Antonio District
  • University of Texas at San Antonio
  • VIA Metropolitan Transit

In addition, the following charter ACAP partners participated in the Walk & Roll Corporate Challenge:

  • Alamo Area Council of Governments
  • City of San Antonio
  • San Antonio Water System
  • USAA

Participating organizations encouraged their employees to use alternative modes of transportation -- carpooling, walking, bicycling, or riding the bus -- when commuting to and from work during the month of June. Through their efforts, the amount of vehicle travel on our roadways during the month was reduced by more than 200,000 miles. By using alternative commuting options, participants also reduced the amount of vehicle pollutants released into the air. The reduction in air pollution is estimated to total more than 750 pounds.
