*SAN ANTONIO:

 

Over 15 area car clubs will depart from the parking lot of San Antonio's beautiful Botanical Garden at 555 Funston Place (North New Braunfels and Funston) from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Call Burma at AACOG (210) 362-5220 for additional program information. (Car Clubs please call Buzz at 696-8900 to reserve your parking slots.)

*CESTOHOWA:

 

The beautiful restored Church will be open for visitors. Restroom facilities will be available. (Be sure to note the names inscribed on the bricks at the base of the flag pole--these Spanish soldiers were serving at nearby Fuerte del Cibolo on July  4, 1776 …and their mission was to protect the Camino Real and the surrounding  ranchos, which were providing beef to support troops allied to  the American Colonists!) There are historical markers for both the fort and the beautiful church, which was built in 1878.

FALLS CITY:  

 

Old-fashioned lemonade and cookies at “hospitable stores” -Pollok’s Store and the Fillin’ Station (old Texaco Station)  in downtown Falls City on the west side of Hwy 181-parking in lot between Fire Station and Pollok’s Store if southbound turn right onto Terrell St.  Drive by historic Niechwietz House, former home of successful merchant family.

HELENA

 

Old Karnes County Courthouse Museum complex  will be open. Be sure to visit the historic John Ruckman House, which was constructed  in 1878 of Florida cypress brought to the site via sailing vessel and wagon and mule team  Refreshments will be served, and bathroom facilities will be available.  A barbecue plate will be on sale from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. for $6 per plate.  (Groups larger than ten, please R.S.V.P.)

*PANNA MARIA:

 

The beautifully restored Church with its painted ceiling, the Museum and the Visitors Center will be open at 9 a.m. for tours. There will homemade cheese dip and crackers with iced tea available for the cruise participants, and delicious Polish baked goods will be for sale (These goodies disappear quickly!).

*PLEASANTON:

Visit the “Birthplace of the Cowboy!”  Longhorn Museum (on the right side of Hwy 97 as you enter Pleasanton) will be open and serving cold drinks to Cruise participants, and the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce will be serving cookies and providing souvenirs.  Please call Donna or Valerie with your arrival time and number in your group.

STOCKDALE:

*SUTHERLAND SPRINGS

 

Museum is now ready.  (new location)  Hospitality stop at the Sutherland Springs Museum on Hwy 87.  The museum will be open free to visiting cruisers. Special refreshments - coffee, lemonade and homemade cookies!  Family story-tellers share favorite memories of the ghost town-the grand hotel, the spa etc. that drew visitors from as far away as Canada and England.   (Maps available for self-guided auto tours of the ghost town.

NEW WESTERN LOOP 

 

CASTROVILLE:

 

Hospitality will be on Houston Square. At this time we are negotiating with Dan’s Market.  We will have additional information in the next week.   

 

RIO MEDINA GENERAL STORE:

 

The General Store is on schedule for a stop. Final arrangements will be finalized this weekend.  Bonnie Jaks is the owner, she is there only on weekends.

 

QUIHI:

 

The Quihi Shop is on the road to the Quihi Gun Club. It is an old Gas Station / Repair Garage that has been made into a local watering / gathering hole.. They will be open for our cruise on Saturday morning.

D’HANIS:

 

Country Mart store and gift shop, will host the hospitality stop. Linda Singer is the owner. Contact her at 830-363-7286. When you come into D’Hanis on Hwy 90, going west, turn right at the blinking light. Cross the railroad tracks and the Country Mart is on your right. Bill & Rosa’s KK Steakhouse is on your left. This is a great place for your lunch stop.
