AACOG administers the 911 Program for Atascosa, Bandera, Frio, Gillespie, Karnes, Kendall and Wilson Counties based on guidelines from the Commission on State Emergency Communications (CSEC).  The AACOG 911 Program services over 180,000 residents with 93,245 landlines being reported in 2005.  During this same time period there were over 77,500 911 calls placed to the Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) with 49.5% of the calls being wireless calls.  The annual budget for the FY2006 AACOG 911 Program is $997,776.

The mission of the AACOG 911 Program is to work with the regional and county 911 coordinators, local and wireless telephone companies, and the telecommunications service providers to ensure that every 911 call is routed to the correct PSAP and managed successfully.

AACOG's 911 Goal is to provide a seamless regionalized 911 database and a public safety answering point (PSAP) equipped with the most up-to-date equipment in each of the seven counties. This process will ensure that all 911 calls, landline and wireless, are routed, answered, and located on the Geographic Information System (GIS) maps, for proper handling of the emergency at hand.
