CHAPTER 6 - POINT SOURCE EMISSIONS
1996 Emission Inventory for the Alamo Area Council of Governments Region
Point sources are defined as stationary sources of pollution generating at least the following amounts of any or all of the following critical pollutants: 100 tons per year of VOC, 100 tons per year of NOx or 100 tons per year CO. These sources can be industrial or commercial operations. The Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission made the list of point sources within the AACOG Region for the target year of 1996 available. This list is a fraction of the Point Sources Database (PSDB) maintained for the entire state of Texas.Methodology
The list was first limited to only the figures concerning VOC, NOx, or CO emissions. These records were then separated into files for each respective county. Once sorted by county, the records were organized by the specific pollutant in question. These figures were then totaled for each pollutant, in tons per year (TPY). To arrive at values in tons per day (TPD), activity days per week were converted into days per year then TPY totals were divided by activity days per year. These figures were then further broken down into totals, by pollutant, for each company within each county. These totals by company can be seen in following Tables.
Spatial Allocation
Each company's location and emissions were geocoded in AACOG's 12 county region.
