  • For the Basic Instructor Course, students are required to wear either department dress uniform or Male-conservative dress slacks, collared shirt with tie or business suit and Female-conservative slacks, dress or business suit.

  • It is highly recommended that students bring a laptop with PowerPoint and internet access.

  • This is a labor intensive course with projects outside of class meeting times.  It is recommended that students allot sufficient time during this week for the course (i.e. take time off from work).

  • Student class presentations and lesson plan development will be required during this course (syllabus provided on the first day of class).

Equipment Requirements:

Ammunition:

  • 1000 rounds of Semi-Automatic

  • 100 rounds of Revolver (38 cal. ok)

  • 15 rounds of Double O Buck 12 gauge 2 3/4 in. (Shotgun)

  • 15 rounds of 12 gauge slugs 1 oz. (Shotgun)

  • 50 rounds of bird-shot. 12 gauge (Shotgun)

Gear:

  • Duty Gear

  • Ball cap or boonie hat

  • Water (camelback is preferred)

  • Uniform suitable for tactical training (BDU pants)

  • Rain gear

  • Sunscreen

  • At least three magazines

  • Eye and ear protection

  • Pen and Paper

Note: Firearms classes cannot be registered on-line.  Please register in person or fax registration with a photocopy of your agency Police I.D. to 210-824-5881.  Call Academy Supervisor Ron Ray at 210-362-5272 to schedule a class or for any questions regarding firearms training.

Nov 17-21                 (40)                 Patrol Rifle Instructor Certification- #3323
8:00-5:00                                        Camp Bullis            $300

Equipment Requirements:

  • 700 rounds, rifle

  • 200 rounds, duty weapon

  • Sling for rifle (1 or 3 point preferred, 2 point is ok)

  • Duty gear

  • Hat (Boonie or Ball Cap)

  • Water (camelback is preferred)

  • Uniform suitable for tactical training (BDU pants)

  • Rain gear

  • Sunscreen

  • At least three magazines (rifle and duty weapon)

  • Eye and ear protection
