Objective:

To manage, coordinate, and market public transportation services in Bandera, Gillespie, Kendall, Kerr, and other counties in the AACOG region, and to manage the Kerrville Bus Company facility, providing effective transportation services for people and packages and effective facility management services. 

 

Organizational Relationships:

1.      Reports to:   Transportation Manager.

 

2.      Directs:        Transportation Drivers and Dispatchers.

 

3.      Other:           Has regular contact with private and public agencies and organizations, including the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), county government representatives, and facility tenants for the purposes of gathering information, determining contract compliance, and responding to requests for information.  Also has contact with the general public as passengers purchasing tickets or shipping packages.

 

General Statement of Duties:

This is a responsible supervisory position requiring managing, coordinating, and marketing transportation services and serving as agent for the Kerrville Bus Company to manage the Kerrville facility and its tenants.  Duties include supervising the day to day work and behavior of drivers and dispatchers, ensuring proper maintenance of the facility, dealing with issues of tenants in the building, and ensuring proper documentation and record keeping for reports.

Essential Duties

 

Manages, coordinates, and markets transportation services in Bandera, Gillespie, Kendall, Kerr, and other counties as required;

 

Supervises the day to day activities and behavior of drivers and dispatchers, ensuring professional, polite, courteous behavior and timely response to transportation requests and package deliveries;

 

Ensures that dispatchers provide a coordinated daily schedule to the drivers;

 

Verifies that all documentation is completed properly and forwarded to the appropriate agency by the required date;

 

Inspects vehicles for compliance with maintenance schedules and cleanliness;

 

Ensures that all personnel are following proper operating procedures and safety guidelines and are complying with drug and alcohol regulations;

 

Prepares the necessary reports and ensured that they are filed in a timely manner;

 

Oversees and manages all facility operations in the interior and exterior of the Kerrville facility, including verifying compliance with contract specifications, maintaining good working relationships with the tenants, and ensuring that the facility is properly maintained, clean, and safe for the public and employees;

 

Serves as agent for the Kerrville Bus Company in the areas of ticket sales, marketing, transferring of passengers to ART vehicles, delivery of packages on a daily basis, and such other functions as necessary to represent the company;

 

Collects money from passengers and prepares deposits;

 

Makes public presentations as needed regarding the public transportation program;

 

Attends meetings, conferences, seminars, workshops, and other in-service training programs related to transportation services; and

 

Maintains current knowledge in various related state and federal government and local programs relating to public transportation.

 

Other Essential Duties

 

Must travel within the AACOG region and to state and local training, including overnight lodging when necessary; and

 

Performs such other duties as may be required.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Federal Transportation Administration drug and alcohol rules and regulations and of federal and state transportation and supportive services programs; knowledge of general office procedures and practices and of basic bookkeeping procedures; ability to acquire a thorough knowledge of AACOG policies and procedures; ability to work well with the general public and a variety of building tenants; ability to deal effectively with multiple state, federal, and local agencies on interactive and overlapping programs; ability to prepare concise and accurate reports; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to establish effective working relationships with other employees, clients, and work related public; ability to assess and evaluate projects and personnel; ability to use a personal computer, including standard word processing, spreadsheet, and data inquiry software; and ability to work independently and creatively.

 

Acceptable Experience and Training:

Bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning, public administration, business administration, or related field, plus at least three years of related work experience, with at least one year of experience in a responsible position in public transportation services;

 

OR

 

High school graduation, or its equivalent, plus at least six years of related work experience, including at least two years of experience in a responsible position in public transportation services;

 

OR

 

Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities.

 

Certificates and Licenses Required:

Valid Texas driver's license or available alternate means of transportation.
