Objective:
To educate consumers, family members, and community agencies on services available through Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS); to conduct the intake process for eligibility requirements.
Organizational Relationships:
1. Reports to: Eligibility and Enrollment Manager.
2. Directs: This is a non-supervisory position.
3. Other: Has regular contact with service providers, outside agencies, other program personnel, and the general public.
General Statement of Duties:
This is a responsible, non-supervisory position. Duties include receiving and responding to screening calls for service; performing intake duties; and guiding consumers through the department services process.
Examples of Work:
Receives and responds to screening calls for services;
Conducts eligibility intakes with consumers;
Reviews In-Home Family and Support (IHFS) program applications and schedules
intake meeting;
Enrolls consumers on appropriate program waiting list and assists consumers
through the department services process;
Assesses consumers “ability to pay” fee according to guidelines;
Obtains and processes receipts for expended program funds;
Completes appropriate documentation and maintains files and records; and
Attends and participates in community outreach events.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of mental retardation and Autism/PDD services and funding sources; knowledge of personnel policies and procedures; standard office practices; knowledge of casework principles and practices. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from all socioeconomic levels; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; and ability to operate basic software, including word processing, spreadsheet, databases, and presentation software.
Acceptable Experience and Training:
A bachelor's degree in behavioral science, plus one year of mental retardation experience.
OR
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge,
skills, and abilities.
Certificates and Licenses Required:
Valid Texas driver's license or available alternate means of transportation.
