2017 School Bus Rebate Application Now Open! 


The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is now accepting applications for their 2017 School Bus Rebate Program. The program will provide over $7 million to public and private fleets owners for the replacement or retrofit of older school buses. Up to $1 million of the funding total will be available for retrofits. 

The deadline to apply for funding is November 14, 2017!


The EPA will be hosting a webinar for potential applicants to the School Bus Rebate program on October 5, 2017, from 1-2 PM CT (2-3 PM ET).  

 
Eligible Entities: 

  • Regional, state or local agency; tribal government or native village; or port authority which has jurisdiction over transportation and air quality, including school districts and municipalities
  • Private entities that operate school buses under a contract with an entity listed above
Eligible School Buses: 
  • Driven 10,000 or more miles over the last 12 months or in use 3+ days/week during the school year 
  • Used to transport 10+ pre-primary, primary, or secondary school students to school or homes
  • Class 3-8 diesel-powered buses over 10,001 lb Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)

Volkswagen Trust Effective Date Set


The Volkswagen Trust Effective Date (TED) was set on October 2, 2017. Texas has until December 1, 2017 to apply as a beneficiary and accept $209 million in clean transportation funding.

Bexar County Nonattainment Status


The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has missed the October 1, 2017 deadline to issue attainment/nonattainment area designations. The EPA says it has "no further information at this time."
