TCEQ is now accepting applications for the AFFP

The Alternative Fueling Facilities Program (AFFP)  offers grants for the construction or expansion of natural gas and other alternative fuel fueling stations within the Clean Transportation Zone. In AACOG's service area, these counties include Atascosa, Bexar, Comal, Frio, Guadalupe, Karnes, McMullen, Medina and Wilson counties. TCEQ has $6 million available for this round of projects. 

Eligible AFFP projects include new station construction or the expansion of an existing facility that will provide a new fueling service or capacity. Projects that are open to the public will be considered for funding before private facilities. Under the AFFP, TCEQ will give preference to stations:

  • that will provide both LNG and CNG at a single location;
  • are located not more than one mile from an interstate highway system within the eligible counties; and/or
  • that are located inside the triangular area between the Houston, San Antonio, and Dallas-Fort Worth areas, and in the area in and between the Corpus Christi, Laredo, and San Antonio areas.
Eligible AFFP projects include:
  • Natural Gas (CNG and/or LNG);
  • Biodiesel;
  • Hydrogen;
  • Methanol;
  • Propane; or
  • Electric Charging.

AACOG partners with San Antonio for Air Quality Summit


The City of San Antonio's Air Quality Summit will address the potential impacts of non-attainment on business and the San Antonio community. San Antonio Mayor, Ron Nirenberg, will share the City of San Antonio's vision on air quality and the role of the business community. Small to midsize business leaders are encouraged to attend so they can learn their role in improving San Antonio's air quality.
