Alamo Service Connection (ASC) Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC)

Services

AACOG's Bexar Area Agency on Aging (BAAA) serves the City of San Antonio and Bexar County. The agency is dedicated to building a community that supports older residents and allows them to age in place with dignity, security, and enhanced quality of life.

The range of services provided include, but are not limited to, Medicare, Social Security, legal aid, health and wellness training, assistance for family caregivers, senior centers, recreation, congregate meals, home-delivered meals, home visits by a social worker, adult protective services (APS), home repairs, in-home supportive services, emergency financial assistance, and access to transportation services.

BAAA & the Alamo Service Connection

BAAA operates the Alamo Service Connection, an information, referral, and assistance system for seniors, people with disabilities, and their families. ASC helps them navigate the complex system of services offered by government agencies, nonprofits, and other service providers. ASC has an extensive database on its website, which is supported by systems navigators in the ASC call center. Systems navigators help callers explore options for handling problems related to aging and disability and recommend resources and strategies for problem resolution.

Funding

The BAAA is funded primarily by the Administration on Aging through the Older Americans Act, which is administered by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS). BAAA also receives some state general revenue funds, matching funds, grants, contributions, and private sector sponsorships. Local donations and grants help BAAA support seniors when government funding is unavailable. For more information on donating, contact the BAAA at (210) 477-3275.
